Schooners Lobster Festival & Tournament
Hosted by Schooners Last Local Beach Club, the Lobster Festival & Tournament is an annual event that runs seven days during the third week of October. You’ll join thousands of people who come from all over to enter raffles, make sand sculptures and even hold lobsters!
During the week, you’ll of course have the opportunity to try many lobster dishes served by Schooners, from soups and dips to burgers and enchiladas—ALL containing this tasty meat.
As the event is held right on the beach, be sure to bring chairs, towels, and umbrellas as well as sunglasses, sunscreen, and hats. Live music is played, both out on the beach as well as nightly inside Schooners.
And smile for the cameras, as the Lobster Fest is an event covered by local news and there’s a lot of opportunities to get your lobster-loving smiles on film as you join in on the daily fun. Be sure to get a picture alongside the costumed lobster who will be roaming around the Fest each day. Sand Sculpting Contest
On the last weekend of the Lobster Fest event, you have the chance to enter into the famous Sand Sculpting Contest. This is more than making sandcastles with kids’ plastic buckets!
The Sand Sculpting Contest has competition in areas of Advanced Sandcastle & Sand Sculpting as well as Youth and Adult/Family categories. It’s great fun to create your own sculpture or simply watch as the beach is transformed into an art gallery in the sand!
Once professionals complete their 3-day work of art in the sand, competitions begin on the Saturday of the Lobster Fest week. Be sure to register that morning if you intend to participate, and bring your sand sculpting “A” game if you intend to come away with the top prize. Does your dog like to explore the sand as well? Schooners is located at 121 Gulf Drive in Panama City Beach and are known for their casual beach food and of course, its proximity to and subsequent spectacular views of the beach.
You can get to Schooners and the Lobster Fest by taking US Hwy 231 to US Hwy 98 West; after crossing the Hathaway Bridge, turn left on Thomas Drive, left on Huff Street, and right on Gulf Drive, where you’ll find Schooners on the left.
