Just because you’re not home for Christmas doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the celebrations! Here are a few of our favorite holiday events just minutes from our Panama City Beach condos on Thomas Drive.
Panama City Beach Marathon
We’re all known to eat a few more sweets than usual during the holidays, so burn off those extra calories by participating in the Panama City Beach Marathon! This race is presented by the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce and gives you the perfect opportunity to get some exercise in on your vacation. There are races for every skill level, like the shorter Kids’ Fun Run or 5K, or the Half-Marathon and Marathon for the seasoned pro. As you race, you will run alongside the award-winning beaches, giving you a beautiful view to push you toward the finish line.
The Panama City Beach Marathon will be held on December 7th, 2019. It will start and finish at Pier Park. Be sure to register in advance online, as there will be no race-day registration.
Annual Christmas Parade
What’s the Christmas season without a Christmas parade? Luckily, Panama City Beach holds an annual parade that the whole family will enjoy. The annual Optimists of the Beach Christmas Parade is a fun, free event that makes for a fantastic evening. Bring the kids out to watch the floats go by and maybe even catch a glimpse of Jolly Old Saint Nick himself! Listen to the bands, collect some candy, and rejoice in the knowledge that you won’t freeze watching this parade as you do in a lot of other states!

For 2019, the Christmas parade will be held on December 14th starting at 4 p.m. The parade goes all down Pier Park Drive, so you can stand anywhere along the street to get an incredible view.
New Year’s Eve Beach Ball Drop
If you’re staying in Panama City Beach to roll in 2020, be sure to come out for the New Year’s Eve Beach Ball Drop. This fun event brings locals and visitors together for an exciting celebration. One of the best parts of this event is that they’ve kept the children in mind and will be holding two ball drops, one at 8 p.m. and one at midnight. If you want to celebrate with your family but don’t want to keep the kids out too late, this is a great option! For the whole afternoon and evening, you can stroll down Pier Park to enjoy live music, food, entertainment, and of course, the midnight fireworks and beach ball drop.
The celebration will start at 5:30 p.m. on December 31st, 2019. Find celebrations all up and down Pier Park Drive. Note that Pier Park will be closed off to traffic for the celebration.
