What is the Weather Like in Panama City Beach?

Panama City Beach has long, hot summers and short, cool winters. Because it’s warm throughout much of the year, you can visit during off-peak season and still enjoy warm-weather activities without the crowds. If you’re planning a trip to Panama City (no matter what time of year), it’s important to know what the weather will be like before you start packing.

Winter

Winter is the coolest season, with December-February being the coldest months. January is the coldest month, but the weather is still beautiful this time of year. 

Panama City Beach receives a fair amount of precipitation in the winter, averaging about 4”-4.8” each month. You’ll need a light jacket and pants if you’re visiting during the winter months.

Although the weather is cooler, there are fewer tourists and accommodations are typically less expensive.

  • December: High of 65°F; Low of 44°F
  • January: High of 63°F; Low of 42°F
  • February: High of 66°F; Low of 46°F

Spring

Spring is when Panama City Beach comes to life. Temperatures are warmer – but not too hot – and most of the season is dry.

March receives a fair amount of rain, with an average of 5.67” of precipitation that month.

April and May are the warmest and driest spring months, averaging only about 3” of rain each month. Many days are warm enough for sunbathing and swimming at the beach.

You may need a light jacket and pants for cooler evenings, but the days are warm enough for summer clothing.

  • April: High of 78°F; Low of 57°F
  • May: High of 84°F; Low of 65°F

Summer

Summer is peak season in the area and when condos in Panama City Beach, FL are in high demand. It’s the busiest time of year to visit (and the hottest), but there’s always something going on in town. 

Memorial Day and Fourth of July are prime times for celebration and beach-going. 

Summers are hot in Panama City Beach, with temperatures reach 90°F in August. But you won’t even notice the heat while you’re enjoying the beautiful water on the beach. 

July is the wettest month of the year, averaging about 7.4” of rain. June and July also receive a fair amount of rain, which can cool off a hot summer afternoon.

Be sure to pack sunscreen, summer clothes, and a rain jacket. You may need a light jacket for evenings, but even after dark, temperatures are still warm.

Fall

Fall is a great time of year to visit if you want to beat the crowds and still enjoy warm weather. Panama City Beach enjoys long summers, and temperatures stay above 75°F throughout much of the season.

November is the coolest month, October is the driest, and September receives the most rain (average of 6”). 

Be prepared for wet weather. You may need a light jacket, but most of the season is still very warm – even in the evenings.
